Our Classes
We have 4 separate classes at Tibberton:
- Reception
- Years One and Two
- Years Three and Four
- Years Five and Six
Reception
The youngest children are in the reception class. Children are required to start school in the term after their fifth birthday but in Gloucestershire schools offer places to children in the term after their fourth birthday. Teachers in this class plan work following the Foundation Stage Curriculum which covers children being taught between the ages of thee and five in all settings. The school and the reception class have very close links with the Under Five Group and The Orchard Nursery who share a setting next to the reception class. The children often work together and take trips together. The staff liaise and plan together.
The class teacher is Mrs Lanceley, supported by Mrs Meredith and Mrs Tookey.

Years 1 & 2
These two year groups are known as Key Stage One and they follow the National Curriculum of ten subjects. At the end of Year 2 the class teacher assesses the children in literacy and numeracy. The teacher may call upon information from any tests used but the KS1 levels they report are their assessment of the children’s work over a the year.
Mrs Hossle and Mrs Troughton teach this class, supported by Mrs Allen.

Years 3 & 4
These are the first 2 years of Key Stage Two where the children’s work continues to be planned around the ten National Curriculum subjects. These two year groups take their first residential trip from the school. In May they join with other Y3/4 pupils from a school in our cluster spending three days at an outward bound centre in Shropshire where they have the opportunity to take part in nine different activities including abseiling, caving and obstacle courses. Children will also have the opportunity to start to learn a musical instrument in this class.
Two teachers share the teaching of this class, Mrs Nolan and Mrs Staines, supported by Mrs A Williams and Mrs D Williams.

Years 5 & 6
During Year 5 the children’s parents begin to think of which secondary school they want to choose, as any arrangements need to be made at the very start of the following year. Year 6 children travel to the Isle of Wight for a week’s residential trip together with children from the other three schools in our cluster. We have many school teams and enter many competitions and the children from this class have opportunities to represent the school in these teams. At the end of Year 6 the children take national tests, Key Stage 2 SATs, in literacy, numeracy and science.
Mrs Horton and Mr Brown teach Years 5 & 6, supported by Mrs D Williams
