5) Environmental Area
One of our parents, Mrs Baker, applied for a grant last year to establish an environmental area. At the same time another parent, Mr Hill, met the children and gathered their ideas for the project. Work was completed at Easter and the children have been using it enthusiastically ever since. Most classes have been planting flowers and vegetables.
The pond is the most popular area now it is inhabited by beetles, boatmen, spiders, pondskaters and newts.
Classes will also be using it as a quiet area to work in across the whole curriculum. It can support projects in music, science, literacy, maths, technology and many other areas of school life.
